Haven’t you always wanted a swimming pool without the negative side effects of chlorine? The new generation of UVOX systems offers this true wellness experience by means of economical and ecological purification of the water in your pool.
Chloramine is formed due to the chemical reaction of chlorine with organic substances (e.g. urine, particles of skin, transpiration, sunscreen). Chloramine leads to red eyes, skin irritation, allergies and an unpleasant smell of chlorine. According to regulations, the concentration of the bonded chlorine (such as chloramine) may not exceed 0.2 –0.6 mg per litre. Up until now, the chloramine content was reduced by adding fresh water. This takes time, involves relatively high costs and is, as such, not an optimal solution.
The UVOX process combines the disinfecting effect of ultraviolet light on bonded chlorine and other organic substances with the oxidising effect of OH radicals and is thus especially suitable for water purification in private, semi-public and public swimming pools. The UVOX systems break up chloramine and other organic chlorine compounds and in doing so, minimise all negative side effects of chlorine.
The UVOX process guarantees natural, clear water without the negative side effects of chlorine. The bonded chlorine content is reduced considerably by the UVOX process. Due to savings in the consumption of water, energy and chemicals, the UVOX systems pay themselves off within a relatively short period of time. At the same time there is less pollution of the environment.

Disinfection using UVOX 100 D or
UVOX 250 D
Bacteria, viruses and pathogenic germs of all kinds are disposed of by using the UVOX systems and highly effective pool water disinfection is achieved. Unfortunately, the UVOX systems to not allow a repository effect in the swimming pool.
In order to maintain the repository effect in private pools WAPURE recommends metering a very small quantity of chlorine (0.1 to 0.3 mg per litre) into the swimming pool. Several system components have therefore been added to the UVOX-100 and 250 systems. In addition, the UVOX-100 D and UVOX-250 D systems have an automatically triggered chlorine/bromine metering system that inject this extremely small quantity of chlorine (or bromine) into the water.
Thus, the UVOX-D systems guarantee perfect and crystal clear water involving only minimum care (every 4 to 6 weeks). Swimming pool owners can thus leave their pool unsupervised for several weeks without endangering the quality of the water.
- Reduction of bonded chlorine (chloramine) due to OH radicals
The oxygen in the air is converted into ozone and OH radicals by means of an ultraviolet lamp produced especially for Wapure. This air mixture of ozone and OH radicals is injected into the swimming pool water by means of a venturi device.
In order to complete the oxidation process, the UVOX-100 D requires a pipeline of approx. 10 – 20 metres up to the pool inlet. Following this all ozone in the water is oxidised.
The pool water is irradiated again by ultraviolet light where the more high-capacity UVOX-250 system is involved. As a result, a maximum amount of OH (minus) radicals is formed, which reduces the chloramine and other organic chlorine compounds in a revolutionary fashion without the formation of hazardous byproducts or alteration to the pH value.
The UVOX-250 system guarantees a certain minimum ultraviolet metering, by means of which all ozone in the water is converted into OH radicals. This additional benefit accelerates and optimises the oxidation process.
An activated carbon filter is therefore not required by both systems for ozone removal.

Disinfection using UVOX 250 and UVOX 500
The DNA of microorganisms is damaged by a certain metering of ultraviolet light. This achieves a very effective disinfection of the pool water. A minimum metering of 0.3 to 0.5 mg of chlorine is required per litre for the pool water in public swimming pools. At the same time, the concentration of the bonded chlorine may not exceed 0.6 mg per litre. Wapure therefore recommends connecting a UVOX system tailor-made for the project parallel to the conventional chlorine metering systems. The consumption of water, energy and chlorine is reduced considerably due to the effect of the UVOX system. The water quality is improved due to the very low bonded chlorine content, which contributes considerably towards the wellness experience for those using the pool.
